National Sheepdog Finals
Join Belle Grove as we host the 2017 U.S. Border Collie Handlers Association's (USBCHA) National Sheepdog Finals from September 26-October 1, 2017. Only 200 champion sheep dog and their handlers will qualify for this event that will crown the North American Champion. More information may be found here.
The event will begin with open preliminaries Tuesday, September 26 - Friday, September 29 (8 a.m. - 5 p.m.). Those that qualify will compete in the Saturday semi-finals (7:15 a.m. - 4 p.m.). The top dogs and handlers will compete in the finals on Sunday (7:15 a.m. - 4 p.m.).
In addition to the main competition, there will be concurrent finals for nursery dogs (under 3 years of age). Preliminaries will take place Wednesday, September 27 - Friday, September 29 (9 a.m. - 4 p.m.) and the Finals will be Saturday, September 30 (8 a.m. to 4 p.m.).
Spectator tickets will be available at the gate during the event. Cash, check and all major credit cards will be accepted.
- Adults $14 per day (any day), $36 for a three-day pass (any three days) or $60 for a six-day pass
- Youth 7-16 and Seniors 65 and Older $7 per day (any day), $18 for a three-day pass (any three days) or $30 for a six-day pass
- Youth 6 and Younger May Attend at No Charge
Online ticket sales have now ended, but ticket prices at the gate are the same as they were online. If you purchased your ticket online you will be required to check in at the Spectator/Admission Entrance each day. Please bring your ticket receipt or email confirmation. No tickets were mailed. You will also be able to check in with your name and photo ID at the "Have Tickets" line. This is a rain or shine event and there will be no ticket refunds.
Food and merchandise vendors will be on the property during the entire event. A list may be found here (scroll to the vendors section).
Spectator tickets include touring Belle Grove's Manor House and Museum Shop, which will be open, Tuesday-Sunday, 10 a.m. - 4 p.m. On Saturday and Sunday, there will also be special demonstrations in the area behind the Manor House:
10:00 a.m. - The Steppin’ Woofs: Dancing Dogs (in the Barn)
11:15 a.m. - Sheep Shearing (on lawn behind Manor House)
1:00 p.m. - Frederick County Virginia Sheriff Office K-9 Unit, Deputy Jason Walther with German Shepherd Heppy (on lawn behind Manor House)
2:15 p.m. - Canine Nose Work (on lawn behind Manor House)
9:00 a.m. - Canine Nose Work (on lawn behind Manor House)
11:30 a.m. - The Steppin’ Woofs. Dancing Dogs (in the Barn)
12:45 p.m. - Sheep Shearing (on lawn behind Manor House)
SPECTATORS MAY NOT BRING DOGS TO THIS EVENT.
Parking is provided and will be on grass. Handicapped parking will be provided for those with a valid placard.
Visitors may bring chairs and some bleachers and tent cover will be provided.
Comfortable clothing, sturdy, closed-toe shoes, and a pair of binoculars are recommended.
No outside food or drink allowed.
No smoking on event grounds.
Drones may not be used on or over Belle Grove property.
