Annual Membership Meeting

The 2021 Annual Membership Meeting is Sunday, September 19, 3-4:30 p.m. The meeting will be held on the lower level of the Manor House. It will include a review of current activities, finances, and the election of new board members. The meeting is free and open to all, though only active members may vote on official business.

The featured speaker will be Jerrilynn Eby MacGregor, co-author with her husband Rick of the forthcoming The Great Rock of Aquia, a history of the sandstone, or freestone, quarries along the Potomac River (pictured here). Belle Grove will be one of the historic properties discussed in the book as this stone is featured in the Manor House.

Ms. MacGregor had a 31-year career as a librarian with Prince William County Public Schools. She has published seven books about Stafford County in an effort to preserve its history. Two-thirds of its court records were destroyed in the Civil War, so this has been a painstaking effort. Most of her research focuses on land tracts, mills, and industries, but she is interested in any information that tells Stafford’s unique story. Ms MacGregor serves on the Board of the Stafford County Historical Society.
