Composing Your Shots

This is for anyone who has a camera. Any type of camera, even cell phones. This class is geared for anyone who wants to take better photos in general, or some who wants to take their understanding farther with tips, tricks and techniques.

We will be discussing in depth composition in regards to photography.
- Why is it important?
- What do you get out of it?
- What makes a photo good or bad from a composition standpoint?
- Different composition techniques?
- Using composition to show movement and depth in a photo.

Reading the Light

This is for anyone who has a camera. Any type of camera, even cell phones. Learn the fundamental element of any good photograph, the light. By learning how light and shadows affect your photographs you will immediately become a better photographer, creating more drastic photos. You'll learn different types of light, how to ready it, what you can do to change it and much much more.

Shooting in Manual Mode Part 1

This is for ages 16+ which a camera that will utilize manual settings.

This class is the first of a two part class on learning how to use your camera in manual mode. Shooting in manual mode allows you much more control over your photos as well as the ability to utilize the true power of your expensive camera.

Some items that we will go through.
- Type of cameras
- Shutter speed, why it matters, how to use it
- Aperture, why it matters, how to use it
- ISO, why it matters, how to use it
...And much more

There will be up to 2 hour class time and then we will go for a photo walk for you to practice what you just learned and ask me any questions while you practice.

Outdoor Portrait Workshop

A great opportunity to work with Scott in a beautiful location for outdoor portraits. There will be some classroom discussion and then Scott will go through the location with models for you to practice the lighting, composition, posing and much more. Learn some of his tips and tricks and what he looks for when he has clients in the field.

The Workshop is located on the beautiful Belle Grove Plantation in Middletown, VA.  All registered participants will receive an email from the tour guide 48-72 hours prior to the event laying out the location and all specifics for the event.
