Battle of Cedar Creek Anniversary
The Battle of Cedar Creek (October 19, 1864) will be commemorated at Belle Grove with interpretation of the Civil War history of the site. Tour the 1797 home of the Hite family that served as Union General Philip Sheridan’s Headquarters during the Battle of Cedar Creek and survived being at the epicenter of the battle. On the lower level will be an exhibit of weapons and replica flags by The Ordnance Detachment of the Civil War Dance Foundation, whose members will also conduct signaling demonstrations. Thanks to a generous donation, admission is free of charge. The Museum Shop will be open and also has Civil War books and merchandise for sale.
